Crossroads Update
Hi All,
Writing to you from sunny CA, a week before Christmas, where the temperature is expected to be 75 degrees Christmas Day!! I've 'had' to come out here because 4 weeks before my 'retirement' I offered on a Friday to help with a project at the factory here, and on the Monday my boss was talking terms... So, hard to resist winter in Southern CA!
Gill and I went out and purchased a 'new to us' RV drove it out here and are now setting up a temporary life. As most of you know, I'm not a big 'flag waver' for t-girl equality. My perspective is just get on with it, be the best woman you can be - no statements, just do. I am who I am, while being respectful of others, get on with my life as I want to live it. This served Gill (pronounced Jill) and I well as we came across country, driving through bible belt areas like Oklahoma, Texas Pan Handle and New Mexico. If you read internet comments that rate different areas of the country for 'TG Friendly', these areas are not highly rated. So, then I also checked Michigan, and it was rated the same! Given that I have NEVER had a problem quietly going about my business anywhere in Michigan, we proceeded as the 'Girls' to drive through the Southwest.
We had a great time, not one 'problem' - even in truck stops for refuelling. Of course my twin brother kept an eye on us, and we didn't push any envelopes - using him when a guy was needed, me for fun. We're now living in the LA area and having to go through the 'getting people familiar with us' activities again. Like neighbors wondering why Gill's husband isn't there on weekends when her friend is! Like joining a new church wondering how/when we'll tell people ('cause we will, because I'm respectful that Gill does not want to be perceived as Lesbian - isn't she sweet thinking I'm not getting read!)
Over the next few months I'll keep you up to speed on our new adventures! What I'm really bummed about is missing all the activities that we at Crossroads are doing while I'm gone! (what does that say???) First of all there was the Christmas dinner at Marinelli's last weekend (Dec 17th.) This is the second year we've done this and it's turning into a really fun evening (at least that's what they're telling me!)
The January gathering is going to be all new! We're calling it 'Girl Stuff - Buy, Sell, Trade'. This should be a lot of fun and and a chance to upgrade your wardrob - remember 'One Girls Past Treasures are a New Girl's Opportunity'! The January Gathering will be at Affirmations in Ferndale (as usual) on Sat. Jan 14th.
The second Saturday in February is on the 11th, and we're bringing back 'Officer Amanda'. Come to hear a great presentation and meet a wonderful, supportive person.
The club is on a roll girls, come join us and make up for my painful absence.
Be All that you can Feel,
Julea
